Diva Milano are producers of high end woven wraps made from Egyptian cotton which is known world wide got its quality. The fabric used to make them is made in the same factory as that used by Versace and Armani to make their textiles. We are therefore talking about a luxury brand. Luxury can be expensive, this is where the Diva Milano Essenza range comes in. The Diva Milano Essenza range are the mid range priced wraps and do help make this luxury brand a little more affordable. This wrap currently retails at 92euro, where as the standard Diva Milano 100% cotton start at 140euro. Unlike the traditional ranges, these wraps are produced in India and use Indian cotton. However, like their factory in Italy they are made with high quality cotton and AZO free dyes. But to the touch they still feel like a premium brand. It was the softness of this wrap, along with the striking colour which initially attracted me to it. I am told that initially they weren't quite as soft out of box but I had no complaints. It was definitely on its way to being broken in. |
As my wrapping days are drawing to a close I am always excited to get to play with new wraps and I jumped at the chance to test one of the new Essenza range by Diva Milano. I have not wrapped with a Diva Milano before so this was an exciting opportunity. The wrap I was sent is Diva Essenza Lilla in a size 6. I was the 4th person to test this wrap. When this wrap arrived I was instantly struck by the pattern. It was girlie but not too girlie and even my 4 year old wanted to be carried in it. He weighs 18kg but was weightless. There is just the right amount of bounce to the fabric which made it lovely and supportive even for bigger kids. But, it isn't just a big kid wrap. My youngest is 2 (Pictured at top of page) and it also gave cuddles to Mr B and Miss Z, aged 1year and 3 weeks, and both their mummies liked it too. This wrap was thick but not too thick. As the wrap is not fully broken in it did take some effort working the slack out. As you can see from the ruck sack carry in picture below the top rail is a little loose. But when I tied a Pocket Wrap Cross carry I was able to remove the slack to create a very comfortable carry. The addition of clear middle markers on the top and bottom of the wrap also help with wrapping. If I only wanted to buy one wrap then this wrap could be it. It's ability to be used across age groups is a definite bonus.

I have loved the Scootababy carrier since we were donated one in 2012 by a sling library user. It wasn't long before a second one was purchased for the library and we now have a third. This time it is the newly launched version 3 which arrived this morning. The postman was even nice enough to come and try and deliver it again after we were out this morning. I have been desperate for the launch of version 3 after being able to play at the European Babywearing Conference in 2013. The Scootababy carrier to is a Three-In-One carrier primairly designed to be used on the wearers hip but which does offer front and hip options too. It is for babies who can hold their head up (approximately 5 months) and last well into toddler hood. Safety tested to conform to BS EN13209-2:2005 it is an easy to use carrier that is highly underrated. Each Scootababy comes in its own storage bag with full colour instructions. As you can see it folds up compactly and fits nicely underneath our pushchair. I like the simplicity if the Scootababy. It is an ideal carrier for those people who want ease of use and durability. Although a one shoulder carrier I have always liked the way weight is distributed. Unlike ring slings for example the padded waist provides support for on hips and the Polartrec fleece shoulder cups wearers shoulder to provide comfort and support, without restricting movwement. I can comfortably wear Isaac for hours. The unique way in which the Scootbaby is tightened allows you to adjust with one hand. It really is simple. Version 3 is 7cm wider than previous versions of the carrier allowing the child to be carried with the 'm' position for longer, thus helping child and wearer remain comfortable for longer. The high body panel also ensures even my loves to learn 21 month old could not do so. But was still soft enough to squash down when he wanted to be arms out. The addition of legs out padding helps make the ride even more comfortable for the little person having a cuddle.
Designed and manufactured in the USA Scootababy are owned by Slumber Roo Ltd. I really can't wait to have an excuse to take the Scootababy out for the day but I have a feeling this one will be as popular as the 2 we already have and that my chances will be limited. |
